Our Process   Hubert’s Images uses the latest in ceramic printing technology to create your unique ceramic  portrait.  In the past, images on ceramics were hand-painted one color at a time before being  fired.  Each color added meant more time in the kiln.  This process could take up to weeks to  complete and was very expensive due to the time and experience needed.  The Latest in Ceramic Portrait Technology  Today, a new way of printing of ceramics has been developed.  We use this latest technology in  the making of our ceramic portraits.  Special ceramic toners have been developed in Germany to  be used in today’s high end laser printers.  Unique combinations of oxides and other minerals  combine to form all the colors needed to reproduce your loved one’s image on ceramics.  After  your image is printed with our specialized equipment, it is coated with a high gloss glass powder.   Your image is then applied to your ceramic piece and placed in a kiln.  The kiln temperature rises  slowly to 1600 degrees then is allowed to cool, leaving a permanent and lasting ceramic portrait.   This unique process enables us to guarantee our ceramic portraits for a lifetime.  The Shortcuts We Won’t Take  Only a ceramic portrait that has been fired in a kiln can truly say it will last a lifetime.    There are many others products that claim to be light fast or fade resistant, such as ink jet prints  or dye sublimation.  These processes are not permanent and will fail even if laminated  with a UV protective film or resin. Our products are food and dishwasher safe and will  not fade.    If you have any question about our process or have a special project you would like to discuss  send an email to hubert@pikal.com.
